After some years of grappling with a mental health struggle that stole pieces of his personal and professional life, Fofo finds his way back to his true love: Cinema. As he begins to rebuild, he shares the pain of stigma, the weight of his journey and the quiet joy of rediscovering his passion.
about the director
Denzel Owoo is a screenwriter and filmmaker based in Accra, Ghana, with a deep passion for African film and storytelling. With about five years of experience as a creative writer, assistant director and editor, he has worked on short films, commercials, documentaries and TV shows in Ghana. His work is deeply rooted in a love for film, particularly African cinema, and a strong desire to elevate the appreciation for cinematic arts and culture in Ghana. In 2023, his short documentary, Fofo Means Father, shot entirely on an iPhone, won the Founders’ Flick Pick at the SF3 Smartfone FlickFest.
