synopsis
This visual material was shot with no intention to make a film whatsoever – just simple takes with a non-professional actor. Then, the actor’s elder brother’s intervention came to raise questions about the meanings and the purpose of the image; the brother is disrupting and ghost-writing the film at once.
about the director
Muhammad Salah (b. 1994) is an Egyptian director who began his artistic career as a street photographer in 2016. In 2017, he enrolled in Cinedelta, a documentary filmmaking program organized by Fig Leaf Studios in Alexandria, Egypt. The program offered him the opportunity to participate in several workshops with filmmakers from around the world, allowing him to explore a range of ideas and begin developing his own cinematic voice.
In 2018, Salah directed his first documentary film, An Un-Aired Interview, which was screened at the Berlin International Film Festival (Forum Expanded) in 2019, FIDADOC Agadir 2019, Iran International Documentary Film Festival (Cinema Verité) 2019, SAAED Film Meeting Morocco 2020, and Gabès Cinéma Fen 2020, where it received a special mention in the short films section.
